Thank you for clearing up my question about BVG (nee M). She was always fiercely proud of her father and her roots in the Martin family.

I have been using another web site to try to get more information about the ship (SS ABYDOS). It's a site called Ships Nostalgia (you will need to Google it as the spam and "Naughty Word" filters on this site will not allow me to give you the Web-Link). You will find me on the Forum section listed under

Or, you could just search by ships name? If you register on this site, there is a facility to send a private message. Just so you are not sharing family background with everyone. I am sure most would just be bored by the whole thing anyway.

I have tried to get hold of an illustration of the ABYDOS. Even the British Maritime Museum would appear not to have one?!
