Images of early wills now online

Courtesy of Manx National Heritage I've now uploaded a set of (about 800) high resolution photographs of early (predominately late 16th century) Manx Ecclesiastical records. These include around 1000 (abstracts of) wills. The photos are available from the images section of my site manxmanorialroll.com

This particular set of documents was never microfilmed, and (presumably as a result) the wills are omitted from most indexes. My rough index also appears on the above site, but this will certainly contain errors.

It isn't easy to understand these documents. The 16th century handwriting can be difficult to read without a lot of practice. Also the earliest of the records (from the 1560s) are written almost entirely in latin.
