Thanks for the help. It makes sense that Wm Gill Jr would not be found in the 1841 IOM census if the 1820 emigration date is correct. I'd love to see the will you refer to. How does one get a copy of these? Perhaps you have some advice on another aspect of Wm Gill's story that I'm trying to solve. His wife's name was Bridget (born in Ireland according to US census records). I don't know her last name or when they married. Unlike many in the family I believe they married prior to emigration. The name listed after William's on the ship's manifest is difficult to read but I'm pretty sure it says Bridget Gill. Can you suggest an avenue for researching this?
