Re: Port St. Mary
In Response To: Re: Port St. Mary ()

My elder brother Andy Miller just informed me about this website. Reading through it brought a lot of smiles to my face as I remember all of the folks at what was officially the "Balqueen Hydro", - Walter Kelly, Bobby Littler, Charlie Ward and many others, Also all those who came over every summer with the CSSM Mission for 2-3 weeks, what a great period ! At Miller's Motors we ran coach tours around the Island, to Rushen Abbey, Snaefell, the Laxey Wheel, Peel, Douglas shows and the Point of Ayre. What I remember most was the famous 1 1/2 mile run to the Strand Picture House in Port Erin from the Balqueen, - where one evening we held the record of transporting 64 people in a 33 -seat coach !! - with me at 12 years old collecting the fares......what fun it was in those days !! Today I live in San Francisco, California, but will never forget those endless summer days in 1950/60's Port St Mary.
