Background to name "Eleanor"

In all the time I have been researching IOM genealogy I have noticed the predominence of the first Name of "Eleanor". My Manx gggrandmother was Eleanor Cannell, my grandmother, grand daughter of John Tate and wife Eleanor Cannell was Mona Eleanor, and whilst the generation that followed has picked up on the name, sometimes without knowing (eerie syncronicity) I have a cousin, and a grandaughter. Getting back to my question I explained it away as perhaps someone like Eleanor of Aquitane had an association with the IOM. Is this a possibility, or is there some more definite association?

Thanks, Lorraine Daly, Qld. Australia.
