Re: Parish question
In Response To: Re: Parish question ()

Just a guess, but Mary Joughin was possibly bapt Ramsey 10 Jan.1751, daughter of James Joughin [IGI]. There was a James Joughin who was one of two Joughin men from Bride whose families "made a brief appearance in Ramsey in the eighteenth century", according to Constance Radcliffe in her book 'Ramsey 1600-1800'.
She writes "James Joughin .... was a blacksmith and boatman who spent some time in Whitehaven in the 1760s, and who had a son Daniel. His premises at the bottom of Church Street (Church Walk) were known in the early nineteenth century as Dan Joughin's or Dan Crosby's concerns."

She writes about the descendants of William Kneen as among the most enterprising of eighteenth century families in Ramsey. William, a weaver, (d.1731) had two sons, Edmond the eldest, & William, a tailor. Edmond was a soldier at Ramsey Fort and had two sons, one of whom was John, a cooper. A possibility to be your John?
