I reached 1790 by subtraction, I am sure the GG discharged from the 5th RV is my forebear, too many other records line up with it including marriage at Malew Church. Your other suggestion of where to look I shall bear in mind if I get the chance to check it out, at the moment I don't know when this is likely to be, geneology will be on the back burner for the next two months at least while I am settling in on the Island.
