You need to get a Family History CD/DVD and enter all the information that has been given to you - search the internet for one.
some names of CD/DVDs are, Family Tree and Legacy. (to name a few)

there are other programs available that are free - Family Search has a free one.
and Ancestry has a Family Tree program - but you have to be a paid up member for access to this.
