Re: Moore/Vick family
In Response To: Re: Moore/Vick family ()

Thank you for your replies to my message. I have been a member of the IOMFHS
for a good number of years. I had hoped to post a message on their forum but
discovered that they had closed it in favour of this site.

Sorry my message had some confusion in it - it was done under urgency as it
is now just 4 weeks until we leave New Zealand. Obviously this was far too
late to post a message in the IOMFHS print journal.

The names VICK/FICK seem to be interchangeable and I seem to remember that
the IGI used FICK.

My John MOORE was the only member of his family that I know of to come to
NZ. His death certificate gives his death date as 14 March 1937 aged 84.
When I searched the IGI originally it was on microfiche, and I didn't find a
satisfactory christening, but, as you say, the 1851 one in Patrick seems the
most likely. I have found the family on several censuses - John is given as
9 months at Creggan Moar, Patrick in 1851 so a christening at the beginning
of 1851 is most likely, rather than the 1853 I had.
