Re: Margaret Crow

Hello Liz,

A lot of people gave different ages in the census, some people took off years, and some people added years.
Some people gave different Parishes where they were born, in all the census.

My Grandfather 'led me a merry dance' he said on his marriage certificate that he was born in Kent, England.
I would still be searching in Kent, if I had not listened at a seminar on searching for lost relatives, it said to explore other Counties, which I did.
My Grandfather was born in, DURHAM not in Kent where his Parents were born, even my researcher tried to tell me it wouldn't be him - but it was !
His Father was a Mariner and must have moved to Durham for work, remember, no domestic purposes benefits in those days - everyone had to work !

And you have searched every John Henry Cain on the Isle of Man, and you have the reply from the Registry saying - the only John Henry CAIN is born in 1855.

In the 1871 Census John Henry - is a Mariner - have you looked at MM for his Seaman Papers ?
