Jane Cavendish, Jurby

A surprise email today got me thinking about Jane Cavendish again, one of my mysteries, and who I have posted about before.

She was born in Jurby about April 1821, daughter of Thomas Cavendish (sometimes Corjeag) and Margaret Killey, and besides her baptism in Jurby and the 1841 census:

(1841) Ballamenagh, Jurby HO 107/1463/9 es26 p8
Thomas Cavendish 55 Ag Lab IOM
Margaret “ 55 IOM
Jane " 15 IOM

this is all I have of her:

1863 Michael 59. The Last Will & Testament of Thomas Cavendish of Ballaugh 24 Nov 1862
"…unto my Daughter Jane the sum of Two shillings and six pence as Legacy."

and:

(1902) Last will & testament of Thomas Cavendish of 18 Hatfield Grove, Douglas, 23rd December 1902 [b.1846 only son of Richard, Jane’s brother]

".....to my Granddaughter Edith Annie Callister the Sum of two pounds out of the Australian money.....
......to my executrix for the benefit of my children the legacy left me and which I expect to come from Australia from the Estate of my late aunt."

She obviously emigrated to Australia at some point after census day 1841 but when and to where exactly I haven't been able to find out so far. Because of the legacy to her nephew I always assumed she didn't marry or have children, but have realised that is not necessarily the case.

I have three Jane Cavendishes around that time to account for:

Jane d/o Thos Cavendish & Margt Killey April 1 1821 Jurby
Jane Christian d/o Thos Corjeage & Charl Mylecharane March 9, 1823 Kirk Michael
Jane Catharine d/o Edward Cavendish & Ellinor Mughtin 27.1.1824 Ballaugh

Being born in Kirk Michael, this could be the daughter of Thomas & Charlotte:

(1851) Lee Road, Lee, Kent HO 107/1591 f.36 p.12 sch.33
Mary E. Ferguson H wid 76 Annuitant Middx, Wapping
Elizabeth “ d u 44 Kent, Deptford
Margaret Rutherford serv u 19 House servant Kent, Greenwich
Jane Cavendish serv u 27 House servant Isle of Man, Kirk Michael [1824]

This looks like the daughter, born Ballaugh, of Edward & Elinor, although this is all the evidence I have:

Jane Cavendish & Edward Cottier botp married 27 Jul 1848 Braddan

(1881) 10 Wesley Ter, Douglas, Onchan (Dist 14) RG11/5605 f.22 p.37 sch.187
William R. Cottier h m 28 house painter Marown
Ester E Cottier w m 25 Arbory
William E Cottier s 2 Douglas
Edward Cottier h m 56 Agricultural labourer Marown
Jane C. Cottier w m 56 Ballaugh [1825]
William Woods boarder un 24 gardener Braddan

Which leaves:

Jane Cavendish of this Parish &. Robert Clague of Lezayre married 31 Jan 1846 Jurby

I can't track this couple down in censuses so if this is Jane, daughter of Thomas & Margaret, maybe they emigrated together, and I should have been searching for a Jane Clague all this time.

On this skimpy information, can anyone recognise this Robert Clague of Lezayre and perhaps give any more details?

Thanks for reading!
