Manx Genealogy

Re: James Wade b 1839 son of William

More cracking research Jean...Was that 1866 marriage via IGI? - amazing...As far as I am aware, the Manx origins have been by word of mouth via (some) children of Cyril Wade and backed-up by the (erroneous) Certificate of Baptism mentioned...My father Norman (Cyril's second child, born Bombay 1914) always referred to his father being born on the IOM - the origins of this later had me 'stumped'...I actually have 2 copies of that Certification of Baptism from different family sources. On close examination of them last evening, I noticed that they are not copies of each other! One from cousin in Germany has a 2/- Isle of Man date stamp dated 7 September 1949, and another from a cousin within the UK, has the same value stamp, but dated 8 July 1952...I do know this was about the time my family was 'returning' to the UK, I believe following Indian independence...I was very young at the time and Cyril died in Birmingham in 1956...His sole surviving child, Diamond (96) has Alzheimer's and is unable to help...There cannot be many James Wade's born on the IOM in 1838/9 and therefore I can only assume these Manx roots must go back further...Do you know, I never had any real idea of the Greatorex links in my family until you lifted the lid on Saturday - thank you...Regards. Gordon
