Bride 1871 census pages missing

Hello Tom,

Where did you find your census entry?

I'm interested to know how complete Ancestry and Findmypast are, compared to the PRO fiche which Brian Lawson used to write his indexes. Brian first used the films (filmed earlier than the fiche) which he found inferior, and rewrote the indexes.

I had a look on Findmypast for Thomas Casement and the Fergusons who appear in Brian's indexes as Piece 5773, Folio 0, Schedule 2, as Roy wrote.

The first page for Bride on FMP is Piece 5773, Folio 1, Page 0. The schedule numbers are cut off the side which has a sticker "MISSING INFORMATION".

The next page is Folio 1, page 5 (so 4 pages missing), and the Schedule numbers (for each household) are 16 to 19. This page also has the sticker "MISSING INFORMATION".

Third page is Folio 2, page 9, Schedule numbers 28 to 31. So those from 20 to 27 are missing.

4th page is Folio 2, page 10, Schedule numbers 32-35.

I think we can assume that all the first households for Bride are missing from this 1871 census on FMP. The first page they show, or that I could find, had three households (Piece 5773, Folio 1 page 0 - schedule nos cut off. Brian has this same household as Folio 0, Schedule 20). They were at (B?)alleg: William Kermeen 29 Farm servant, b.Maughold, with wife Mary 32 b.Bride, and children all b.Bride William 9, John 7, Mary 5, Agnes 3, Margarett 1. They were followed by the Crennell family, then Teare.

So the missing ones from FMP are all the households before Brian's Schedule 20 (including your no.2), and other pages following their first page.

That's unless your Dist 1-Page 1 - Ent 2. was included somewhere else?

Sue
