Re: Demeza
In Response To: Re: Demeza ()

Hi, was browsing and noticed your find of a picture of a, possibly Canadian, soldier. Henry Hail Demeza was my Grandfather's youngest brother. I have a birth certificate for him but the the middle name should have been spelled 'Hale'. There were three brothers who emigrated to Canada, George, Arthur and Henry. Their father was John Horace Demeza and mother, Georgina Cornelia Hayward Goldsmith who lived in Tunbridge Wells. I too have found the details of Henry joining the Canadian Army, but this is all I have on him of his Canadian adventure. I believe I am a descendant of Solomon who married Ann Hale, since this name Hale has popped up in my family tree. John Horace Demeza was the son of John and Jane Demeza of Penshurst Kent. John's father was George Demeza and his mother Sarah Holding. I am stuck with the George Demeza bit at the moment. On visiting Penshurst Parish I found a George who died, aged 28, in 1837, which means he was born in abt. 1809 but I don't know where. I cannot find a George Demeza born around that time, so if anyone out there can put me right, I'd be grateful.
