Brickworks Ramsey

Family story passed down....One of my ancestors, born in 1824, was apprenticed to a brickworks in Ramsey. After he migrated to Australia, he recognised clay stuck to the wheels of his dray, as being similar to clay on the island. Consequently, he then successfully made bricks for some time before turning to farming. He is supposed to have served an apprenticeship as a brick maker in Ramsey, although he was brought up in Malew. Can anyone tell me please,if there was a brick works in Ramsey around this time? did you serve an apprenticeship to become a brickmaker and if so were any records kept of the apprenticeships? Thank you.
Margaret
