CAPTAIN ORRY COWIN OF MAURITIUS

Hello

The History of the Clague Family by Brian Lawson (see link below) has a Margaret Clague born 17 October 1802 at Marown to Thomas Clague and Esther Radcliffe (see para 7.26). No other detail on Margaret is given. This Clague family had a long association with Braddan.

Could this Margaret be the one who married John Cowin (c1802-1869) at Braddan on 29 March 1825? John died at Douglas and was buried at Braddan.

The descendants of this couple achieved great things across the world – Mauritius, South Africa and South Australia.

I have searched in vain for the parents and birthdates of John and Margaret. If anyone could assist in my quest, it would be much appreciated.
