Ordering LDS films
In Response To: Re: Maughold Wm/Esther Lace MI ()

Hi David,
I must have written this 100 times on the BB! You get the wills on LDS films through your local Family History Centre, worldwide. Look in the phone book under "Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints" for their non-member opening hours. They charge a small fee to order the film to be delivered to them and it is yours for a month to read and photocopy on their film readers. They ring you when it comes in, and you book a reader for when it suits you. You can usually order several films at a time.

The advantage of Brian's index is that it has the names alphabetically of those who left wills, with the date and LDS film number, so that you can check for a likely will following a burial, and don't have to look up the annual indexes for the two courts. In return he asked that people send a transcript of the will they have found through his index, to add to the index entry, and there are now thousands completed (and many more thousands to go).
You need to read his instructions.
