I was joking of course. I do think many of the old Manx could have been more creative--not so many Johns, Williams, Marys, etc. They might have known how to spell their names, how old they were at any given time, made certain in census years they stayed put until after the census, they gave children middle/family names much earlier in time, made a written will, etc.
There are SO many things they could have done to help us all. Thank heavens the Manx included woman's maiden name early on.
Of course if they had done all these things, how would we fill up our time?
