Alan

Apologies for not replying to your message back last June, yesterday was the first time I have seen it.

My great granddad was William Henry Cox (in approximately 1895 in an IOM newspaper article he somehow acquired another middle name of Gordon, I do know that his son was named as Gordon in 1884.

In desperation I have searched the name of Cox on the Isle of Man and it was then that I came across Willie Gordon Cox. It did cross my mind whether this child may have been belonging to my granddad because in 1884 he was in Bangor North Wales. My great granddad came from Birmingham and in 1891 lived in Sussex with his wife, he arrived on the IOM between 1891 and 1901 I believe it to be 1892, he continued to live there with an Alice Emily ? until his death in 1910. I am wondering if when he was in Bangor in 1884 he made a visit to the IOM and then went to live there at the later date.

Anyway, according to the IGI record it does state that the dad of this Willie Gordon Cox was a George David Cox.

There we have it Alan that is my story.

However, there is a John Brotherton Cox born Birmingham living on the IOM at approximately the same time as my great granddad William Henry Cox. I am trying to confirm or not whether they were related, if anyone else would like to be sent my 2 pages outlining the 2 families living in Birmingham I will gladly send them on to you to see what your opinion is.

Many thanks
Ewan
