Re: Christian family
In Response To: Re: Christian family ()

Ann,
We have copies of 4 pages from the Christian family bible. It was entered by Alfred R. Christian, grandson of John, Sr. and Jane Brower Christian. There is a statement that this John was the son of Buham (sp), We also found a article (no copy) saying his name was Richard, not Buham from the IOM . I can see with the old english spelling that mistake was made. On a side note: Fletcher Christain was also from the IOM.
John was born on the Hudson near Peekskill, NY on Nov 1, 1753 d.Jan 9, 1835. He was in the Revolutionary War. In an 1845 census we found John Jr. and family living in Owasco, Cayuga Co. NY. The Christain Family Bible by Alfred R. Christian was published by Syracuse Library. I have yet to find a copy (other that the 4 pages). John Sr and family is on page 18; What is on 1 thru 17?
We worked with the Cayuga County Historian, Sheila Tucker. She found all sorts of info on the Christian family starting with John Sr. who is buried a the family cemetery in Thoop, Cayuga Co, NY. Her email is historian@co.cayuga.ny.us I have no idea about John Sr. siblings (Gabriel?) or parents because we focused on finding a Clarance Christian, my paternal grandmother's father. There is a Wm. H. Christian b. ~1840 that was a Civil War vet. (16th Calvary). That line goes from John Sr to Jeremiah Sr to Jeremiah Jr to William H.
