Re: M.I. Lonan lookup please - Looney

Archibald Looney /daughter Anne Jane Looney - see 1868 Lonan marriage of Anne Jane to her [probably]1st cousin Thos Looney.

The Maughold Baptism Register contains all the records of the baptisms of the children of Christopher Looney and Elizabeth Kneale, for example: -"22nd Nov 1815: Thomas, s/o Christopher Looney and Elizabeth Kneale" - except for :
"11th Jan 1818: Archibald, s/o Christopher and Elizabeth Kneale"; this has been transcribed as the baptism of an Archibald Kneale, but is almost certainly that of Archibald Looney.

1841: Ballabane Andreas: ARCHIBOLD LONEY sic 25, Male Servant at Goldsmith Farm,

next door to Keeiltushtag Farm, where one Mary Howland lived.

Archibald Looney married Ann Camaish in 1844; she already had a child Esther Garrett (b.1843)

Lonan Burials: LOONEY Archibald, Ballamilgin, 74yrs.....................21 MAR 1892

MARY HOWLAND / Ann Jane Looney -Howland
This is a speculative hypothesis, but fits with data so far uncovered: -

Mary Howland: b.ca 1820 Andreas
Parents: William Howland 1796-1829 / Leonora Fargher 1784-1864; m.1818-02-21 Andreas

Siblings: John 1818; William 1823; Elizabeth 1825-78

1841: Keiltushtag Andreas: MARY HOWLAND 20, Spinner, with maternal grandmother

Ann Fargher 80 + half-brother Phillip Corkill, 25, Tailor, [c.1814-12-26 Andreas, s/o

Leonora Fargher, father not named; Phillip died 1867 Bride].

A daughter, ANN JANE Howland, father unknown, was b.1842 to Mary Howland in Andreas. The distinct possibility is that the father was Archibald Looney, who in 1841 was working on the next farm - "propinquity precedes procreation"

1842+: Mary Howland / Ann Jane not positively identified until the latter married Thos Looney in 1868.
