Very possible we are mixing up Ireland with Scotland here. Marriage record of John Kaighin and Mary Nichol (26 Aug 1839, Braddan ["Caghan" and "Nickle"]) shows Mary was born in Scotland, as do all available census records for this family (ht tp://www.kaighin.com/familyhistory/references/census/pages/family/13500.htm).

Mona Christian seems to think their daughter Margaret married John Gorry (ht tp://genforum.genealogy.com/kaighin/messages/5.html). Marriage record of 1 Sep 1872 Braddan might confirm.
