Got an email from ancestry .com that the military information is on free access from 7th Nov for a week (Remembrance Day help) Tried to find out more about my grandmother's 2 brothers, Herbert & John Kinvig. I already have Herbert's regiment & the date he died in action in 1918 but was interested to see if they gave any other info. The only Herbert that came up was one in liverpool, not 'my' Herbert. Tried with Kin & got loads on a William King & then an Edward King - all sorts of papers, forms etc but did not know how to reach Kinvig without having to go through the hundreds of other surnames beginning with Kin !! I was slightly disappointed as John Kinvig born 1888 showed no result either . Maybe it was another way to get a person to subscribe .
