David, Brian Lawson's list of registered births are mainly from after registration became compulsory in 1878. Even after this date his index is not complete because he was in the process of adding to it when he died.
He included the very few early birth registrations from Douglas, and a few from Ramsey and Castletown from 1849 onwards, but there are registered births for the other parishes, including Malew, only from 1878 onwards.
