Thanks for this - I did get as far as finding John Quirk and Anne nee Steitch in the 1841 census, but will need to wait till my next trip over to look up anything earlier.

Hopefully that will be next spring or summer to follow on from my researches last May.

Do I take it that Steitch is a very localised name peculiar to the Rushen area?
