Philippe Francois Laglace was (according to family legend) born in France about1758 and fled during the revolution. He and wife Margaret had at least 3 daughters, a son Philip (who appears to have died young) and possibly Lewis Clement. He was a musician and taught dance. Manx Mercury, 14-6-1794 and12-7-1794. Lancaster Gazette4-4-1803 records his having recently returned from London and Paris and his intention to open a dance school there.
He died in Chester Infirmary13-5-1818 and was buried in St Martins churchyard, Chester 15-5-1818.
