Sue, I believe that I've identified the Jane Clague who married Robert McCombe in Braddan in 1864. I believe she was your husband's great grandmother ?
I'm fairly sure that she was Jane Clague bap 21 Feb 1837 Santon, daughter of Henry Clague b 1795 and Mary Cannell b 1802 who married in 1826 in Santon. The other candidate is Jane Clague bap 1st March 1835 Santon, daughter of Robert Clague and Catherine Henson. However, the 1837 birth fits perfectly with the census entries which give Jane's age following marriage as:
30 in 1871
43 in 1881 b Santon
53 in 1891
64 in 1901 b Santon
74 at death in November 1911
Two other Jane Clagues b Santon around the mid 1830s were Jane b 1834, daughter of Thomas Clague and Esther Kneen (this Jane was my g g grandmother's sister) and Jane b 1839 daughter of William Clague and Margaret Clague (this Jane was my g g grandmother's first cousin)
The Jane Clague b Santon in 1837, daughter of Henry Clague and Mary Cannell, was also a first cousin of my g g grandmother, hence my interest in solving this puzzle.
One more piece of possible evidence is the Richard Henry Cannell, nephew age 20, in the 1891 household of Robert and Jane McCombe. He could be a grandson of one of Jane's mother's brothers (which would make him a first cousin once removed, but nephew is near enough.)
