Crofts, Balladoole

Kay

The small acreages at Balladoole would have been at a place called The Crofts; these were modest cottages apread along the coastal road between the Crofts Farm and the Balladoole Road. I think that my GGGGrandmother Isabella Cannell was brought up there, certainly her husband William Kinvig and she were with her parents around there in the 1841 census. There is a rent roll for the tenants of Balladoole in 1743 and John Kennel was the tenant at £9 per annum of "Knockdaraugh" and with partners also rented £50 p.a. worth elsewhere on the estate.
