A kind person has sent me a census form but I can't for the life of me decipher the occupation of the man. The registrar's writing is so poor. I've even used my better glasses to see if they help! It looks like Rofer /Roper /Rofier - not roofer as only one 'o'. Was there a roper occupation who made ropes ? Usually after a while one can finally read almost illegible writing but this word has stumped me ! Thanks
