I lived in Portsmouth England and found a photo behind the mantlepiece of a guy in WWI uniform probably Canadian, this was about 7+ years ago. I have recently done some research on the previous tenants in Coniston Avenue Portsmouth and found the name Richard William Demeza living there about 1926-35. Doing some research into the name I found a Henry Hail (Hale) Demeza born in Tunbridge 1888 and living in Ontaria enlisting in 1917 at the age of 29 with his mother's address of Fairthorn Lodge Colbrook Park Tunbridge and wondered if there was a link to William R Demeza as he too was born in Tunbridge.
