Frances yes, but Goodwin says, and he is on his home ground here, that this Thomas, a mason’s labourer known as Buffalo on account of his strength, died unmarried in about 1880. His Peel headstone, no. 663 in the IoMFHS book, records that he died 1874 Dec 24 aged 49. The burial, in the German register, was on Dec 27 (age 49). The headstone also records the deaths of his parents Thomas and Mary Joughin, Mary being the daughter of the late Philip Joughin of Peel.
