SPAMBOTS

Ever had a deluge of junk mail and want to know why or how to reduce the risks of receiving them?
For those who leave their email addresses 'ON VIEW' in forums etc, then you might want to briefly look up the following site which will give you an insight as to what spammers do.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/E-mail_address_harvesting

So the next question is; how do I stop them? The next site gives suggestions as to how you can let other people read your email, but not the spammers.

Please note that both sites have been checked for positive ID and I hope this helps prevent some irritating emails in the future
------------------------
I must admit, the iomfhs.im site is still being sent membership requests from spammers and even today after clearing everything yesterday, there's 12 requests for membership.
Looking at them initially, I'd say there's 11 showing tell tale signs of being a spam request, but all will be checked out regardless.
Statistically (I actually love stats), I've disapproved of 1837 spammers to date and I've started rechecking those who've already been given membership which was prior to my Admin duties.

As mentioned once before on here, requests to join the other forum is by Admin approval only. There is however, no need to do so, as replies get redirected to this site as there are certain advantages of keeping all Manx data/knowledge and experience in one place, with the added benefit of Frances's Manx Notebook (available in CD form for those who aren't aware)

I'm still waiting for info as to current issues and the minutes from the last meeting, but will get back to you as soon as I'm in a position to do so.
Regards, Paul
