Re: "Query www.iomfhs.im"

-------------- Decision time looming I think --------------
(The following is my personal opinion and not necessarily that of the society and I speak only as a member of the IOMFHS)

As I've mentioned previously, there are certain restrictions to the Antelle (.im) site and paying additional costs to make certain management areas work is a little hard to grasp.
The society (I believe), picked Antelle as a web site provider due to it being highly recommended and looking through Antelle's previous clients, it certainly looked the business and one could see the attraction of wanting the Society to look good in the public eye.

Unfortunately, the wedding didn't go as planned, as any alterations or additions would create additional expenditure to the society, because the site was not personally owned by the society and therefore they were unable to add or edit certain key areas.

I do know that the IOMFHS site had 2,251 hits last month and for a small island such as ours, this is pretty decent, but I see this figure doubling, dependent on its location and information content.

I found the forum and admin controls on the other site slightly unusual, even confusing and for newcomers wanting to ask a question on the forum, this must have seemed a small nightmare.
That's why I've been promoting this particular board and not the IOMFHS Forum one, as instead of splitting the researchers, the best of the best are already on here and I always remember someone saying, "why spoil something that's not broke" and they were right.

After seeing both sites and looking at the admin behind the scenes with the Antelle site, I believe that the IOM.com site offers value for money and that the IOMFHS should use this forum as the main provider of questions, answers and information.

I'd therefore support a return to this site, not only financial reasons, but for a place where everything is together and who knows, maybe the MNH will add a few links to their site as well.
-------------------------------------------------------------
I'd like to talk about other areas in the society that have concerned members recently, but it's not my place to do this and hopefully this will be addressed soon.
------ Any developments I'll let you know ------
