Mining Patents

I have information on Patents taken out by my G.G.Grandfather Thomas Cubbon, during the Australian Goldrush.
His partners in these were,
J.Quilliam & John Quayle. Both Manx names!
They were all in Creswick Victoria in the 1860's.
One patent is for a "Dry Amalgamator" on display at South Hill, near Mr Henry Stephenson's residence and miners were invited to bring their quartz and try the Amalgamator for free.
Is anyone related to these men and have some information, I'm assuming they knew each other on the IOM. It would be lovely background information for my records.
