Re: Cringle
In Response To: Re: Cringle ()

Hi Muriel and Tim,
These messages are from some time ago, but hopefully one or both of you still check this board. I also am a descendent of John Cringle and Jane Quayle. Their son James was my gg grandfather, John James was my great grandfather. I also have been having a difficult time trying to sort out the repeating christian names! There appear to be two families of Cringles on the IOM. A family of lead miners/farmers and a family of mariners. My line seems to come only from the miners and farmers, but can someone tell me whether there is a link between these two families?
Also, a couple of messages in this thread spoke of James traveling to Nevada and/or Colorado to mine or check out mining prospects. I'm interested in learning the source of that information. It may correlate with a gravestone that I just located for a Thomas Cringle, Native of the Isle of Man, died 21 Mar 1874, age 37, buried at Bald Mountain Cemetery, Nevadaville, Colorado. Does anyone know whether James' brother, Thomas (dob 25 Sep 1836), also immigrated to the U.S.? The age matches up. If you have any information at all that you can share on this family, it would be greatly appreciated!
