Adrian, I have a different parentage for these two sisters, who were Mona Charlotte and Agnes Greggor respectively. In 1980 I contacted the family in Vancouver and they told me that the parents were Robert Douglas Greggor and Clara Joughin (daughter of Philip Joughin from Peel), if I read aright the tree they supplied.
This is corroborated by the Goodwins in their notes on Joughin, page 4a. They say Philip Caesar Joughin (d 1907 a 76) m Agnes Alicia. One of their children was Clara Alicia. Clara Alicia m Robt. H. Greggor (cross-reference to p.38 of their Greggor notes). RHJ and CAJ’s family are all in Vancouver. On p. 5a of the Goodwins’ notes we find William Clucas Joughin, grocer and author, who married a Shimmin (cross-reference to Shimmin p.10). Their children Douglas and Orry are given, but not their Greggor wives. Douglas is in Canada, and Orry m 1910 Lily Williamson Moore (Moore p.24). They also give two daughters for the Joughin/Shimmin couple: a hospital nurse who m …Bury, MD, and another nurse, in Nobles Hosp.
I found the following marriage at Braddan, 1910 April 29:
Orry Joughin, 21, bachelor, clerk of Sunnyside Terrace, Onchan, son of William John Clucas Joughin, journalist; and
Lily Williamson [I did not note Moore, but that could be my mistake], 30, spinster of Francis Villa, Douglas, father’s name blank.
Witnesses Mona Joughin, Maud Joughin [these would be two of the groom’s sisters].
They had a son Thomas William Joughin, b 1910 October 13 at 36 Woodbourne Square, Douglas, son of Orry Joughin, grocer, and Lily Williamson of 33 Michael Street, Peel.
Orry Joughin must have remarried.
Philip Caesar Joughin, father of Clara Alice, Mrs. R D Greggor, was the son of Mary Joughin als Joughin, sister of John Joughin snr. referred to by Robert Hendry. Putting together the information in this thread, that means that the Greggor sisters were third cousins of their Joughin husbands – that is, if this parentage of Mona Charlotte and Agnes Greggor is right.
