Thanks for the clarification - I skipped a generation somewhere (on Ancestry you can't really see the two strands from the two brothers at once).

Your data also gives me a double-check on my "borrowings" from another family tree - always a bit dangerous depending on how thorough the other person's research has been! But his information seems accurate.

Maybe we'll never know exactly who is in the photo - is it possible to get back copies of your journals for me to see it? I've still to join - but will get round to it at some point (getting ready to go off on holiday soon).
