Re: GICKS of CORDEMAN
In Response To: Re: GICKS of CORDEMAN ()

Hi Chris, good to hear from you. I have just returned from the island where I spent time at the registery office in Douglas. I got a copy of Margaret Curphey's will, which filled in a lot of blanks.

The Curphey's are linked to the Gicks of Cordeman as John Curphey, a farmer and land owner in Ballasalla around 1840's was married to Christian Gick, daughter of William and Jane (Moore) Gick.

Jane was the daughter of Thomas Moore.

My great, great grandfather, was Joseph Clarkson who married Isobelle Kelly from IOM

She would have been born around 1806 and married around 1826.

I can find no record of her birth, or marriage anywhere that I can be sure it is the right Isabelle. I think her father might have been a William Kelly.

Just wish I could find the answer.

I have lots of info on the Gicks, and Curpheys.

Their homes (farms) are still standing.
