My grandfather/great grandfather and great-great grandfather were shipping agents in Penzance... our connection with the Isle of Man is fairly limited though they obviously knew Canon Maddrell reasonably well for him to provide a picture. He was I believe vicar at St. Johns in Penzance for a while and my family have a strong connection with this church - my Uncle who was also a Canon wrote on the back that he was a Manxman. As I go through 9 generations of papers (going back to the 1770s!) if I find anything else I'll be happy to provide.
