Exactly, Meza/Mesa are from Spanish origin. In Spain and Latin America usually people say that the origin of these names is from the nort of Spain (País Vasco), Toledo or Castilla. And that they are genuine Spanish.

I believe that Sephardic influence in the Spanish onomastic is stronger what usually people say. This is what I am trying to know, besides of my own ancestry.

Also, it is necessary genealogical searches because of the changing and took of names, very common in the past. This means that people maybe have the same surname but come from different origins.
