pending visit/Cain genealogy

My wife, Candyce (Cain) Fisher, and I plan to visit the Isle of Man during a 40th anniversary trip to the British Isles commencing in three weeks. We're due to arrive IOM Thursday, Oct. 2, and depart Saturday, Oct. 4, and are looking for someone who might be able to act as a guide for us. My wife is a g-granddaughter of Thomas Cain, who emigrated from IOM to the United States (Illinois) in 1867, at age 19. He was born Nov. 6, 1848 -- we believe in St. Mark's, Malew Parish. (There is a record of the christening of a Thomas Cain there on Nov. 12, 1848 -- the son of Thomas Caine (b. 1813) and the former Eliza Patty (b. 1823). We would like to visit this part of the island and learn as much more about the Cain surname and its association with IOM as possible. We're not expecting to find highly specific new information about my wife's ancestors -- rather to gather a more general understanding of the island, it's people, and the history that influenced emigration in the mid-19th century.

Pls respond to danandcandy@hotmail.com if interested and able to spend some time with us in the Oct. 2-4 time period.

Thank you.
Dan Fisher
