Frances, I didn't mention wills.

I was answering Nigel's question which was "which area of indexing is actually regarded as the priority for overseas members".
My answer was [in my opinion] the most help to overseas members would be indexing documents not available on LDS microfilm. I was referring to documents held in the IOM and therefore not available to the overseas members to whom Nigel was referring. And in a subsequent message I gave the example of Articles of Marriage where the names of the couple marrying are given, and usually also the names of both sets of parents [if alive]. They are sometimes witnessed by other members of the family, which is also of interest. Because land is often included in the contract the identification of this is also very useful - in association with the personal names.

These documents are sometimes included with wills, but usually are not. There are very abbreviated indexes to Northside and Southside Sales which are on film, but they do not include the family relationship details described above which are crucial for family history.
