Re: St Johns Cottage (Greeba)
In Response To: St Johns Cottage (Greeba) ()

There are only a few houses at Greeba which lies on the main road from Douglas to Peel on the Douglas side of St Johns, the no 5/6 bus will provide easy transport.
The name Booth is not common on the Island - I have a number of intriguing occurances - one is a report of a headstone in Braddan New Yard inscribed :—" Harriet Booth, of Manchester, who departed this life on the 20th day of July, 1849, aged 29. This was the first stone erected in the cemetery. W. Commish."
Another is to a Mr Booth of Douglas, Wesley noted in his diary as having recognised him as his brother was a Methodist in Ireland (possibly the same Mr Booth whose house on his death was taken over by Mrs Fannin)
Another Booth family appaered to be millers but in ramsey, Laxey area.
- have you done any work on Manx connections in 18th and 19th C ?
