I understand from the Civil Registry they are putting together a proposal to re-index the early Civil Registration records direct from the original certificates. However with Government spending cut-backs I don't know how this would be affected.

When Society volunteers recently indexed the early portion of the Onchan Burials they were working from images scanned onto disk from microfilm (of the original manuscript register not the 1911 transcript)

Speaking to Mrs Sue Cain she confirms that it is the female names from the four C of E marriage indexes pre 190? which were never indexed.

I was attempting to use the microfilm of the indexes to Registered Births this week, and they are quite difficult to read. I think the original indexes are probably at the Manx PRO.

Which area of indexing is actually regarded as the priority for overseas members?
