Look at Chapter 13 p. 239 of "A History of Kk Maughold" by William & Constance Radcliffe. They discuss the descent of Ballastole from John Stole in 1597, then Donald (1607), John (1628) Robert & John (1643) and then a series of Johns until the last Stowell owner, Edward, succeeded in 1832.
