Hey everyone. I too decided to enter my surname in a search engine!! I am 17 years old, the granddaughter of Sir William Godfrey Cretney, knighted for his services to education. I live in England but I am very pleasantly surprised to hear of this strong Canadian link to the Manx roots! The Isle of Man is a wonderful place and I recommend a trip to anyone, my father's cousin David Cretney is minister for tourism on the island and I am sure he would be delighted if any of you decided to visit! I will be embarking on a four week trip across Canada in late June this year, travelling with my boyfriend and his family in a car from Vancouver to Toronto! Amazing stuff!
