I have recently started researching my Manx family history. My great grand mother was Elizabeth Mona Gelling. She was born in Victoria, Australia. Her parent were Edward Gelling and Elizabeth Cowell/Cowle. Edward was born in Marown Dec 1839 son of Edward Gelling and Isabella Quayle. Elizabeth was born in Marown about 1842 daughter of Thomas Cowell and Elizabeth Cottier. Edward's brother Thomas also came to Australia and married Elizabeth Cowles sister Emma. Two more brothers John and William also came to Australia and possibly a sister Catherine. Elizabeth and Emma's brother Philip Cowell also came to Australia. I'd be glad to hear from anyone with more information on this family.
