Thomas Gell of Douglas

I would appreciate help in identifying my great great grandfather, Thomas Gell of Douglas and his first wife. His middle name was possibly Edward. According to a copy of a my great grandfather’s birth certificate, his son, Thomas Edward Gell was born 19 July 1885 at 43 Market Street. His wife at that time was Caroline Dockeray. Family tradition records a second son, Walter, was born later to the same wife. Caroline Dockeray died, according to her gravestone on 22 June 1907 at age 43 years. Thomas Gell remarried Eliza Catherine ____ . Thomas Gell died, according to his gravestone on 16 July 1936 at age 76 years. His second wife, Eliza Catherine, died 17 April 1938 according to her gravestone. (These three are buried together. My uncle on a visit to the IOM photographed the gravestone, but did not record its location! He says it was in Douglas and not in a churchyard.)

Thomas Edward, the son, emigrated to the USA in about 1905. Walter emigrated to Liverpool, England sometime after 1907.

Someone kindly looked for the family on the 1891 census and reported this possible family at 43 Cattle Market Street:
Thomas Gell, head, married, age 31, joiner, of Douglas;
Catherine, wife, married, 33, Douglas
Thomas E., son, 5, Douglas.

I would appreciate any help anyone with access to records could give in establishing the parentage of Thomas Gell (c. 1860) and Caroline (Catherine?) Dockeray (c. 1858-1864), or locating the family on other censuses in order to help sort out the conflicting dates. I have been unable to isolate my Thomas Gell from the myriad of possibilities on the IGI Index or other sources to which I have access.
