Re: Moore
In Response To: Re: Moore ()

I have been looking for my mother's mother, Elizabeth Brow who died about 1893 in cleveland Ohio. She first married a man named Christian Giesler, and had two sons, William and Charles. Then she married my grandfather, Edward Vogel.
My mother, Laura was born 1892. Recently, I learned that she may have been born to William "Brew" and Hannah Moore, both from the Isle of Man. They had one son, William also born in the Isle of Man. In Ohio they had three daughters: Hannah, Isabelle, and Hellenand another son, Robert. In the 1860 Census of Cleveland they had a three month old child (not yet named). I found the family in the 1970 census, but the youngest child was missing and the son, William had a family of his own. In the 1880 Census the daughters were unmarried and used the surname, "Brow".
In looking for Moores at the Family History Center, I found a "Kirk German", and think that is the most likely place that they came from. Elizabeth Vogel's death record says that she was born in Germany, but of course she was also thought to have been born in England, and also in Ohio.
Can you tell me anything about this church "German"?
Thank you,
Dorothy
