Jane Shimmin listed on IGI July 1846 Surby to parents Richard and Isabella Gell
is incorrect. The name should be Susan. She was my great grandmother and I have checked many records and wills to establish that this is the correct name.
She married John Hudson july 1876 and they lived in Ballakillowey.
On the original parish register the writing is very faint and because of the way the name was written I believe the person who copied it for the IGI made a mistake and misread the name as Jane.Richard and Isabella never had a daughter Jane.
